Paul was right!

View of Sydney Harbour from Taronga Zoo

Paul has been talking up Sydney for years.  He was here in his mid 20s and had a fabulous time hanging out with his hostel buddies, going to the beach, and I would assume checking out a number of local bars.  When we were planning the trip he suggested we reserve a little over a week for Sydney because he was sure we would love it.  It is the longest time we've spent in a large city but, considering the time difference and possible jet lag we all thought it was a good idea.  As Sydney approached, Paul seemingly began doubting his 20 year old memories and began stating: "I really hope you two will like Sydney"  rather than "You are going to LOVE Sydney!"

Turns out Paul was right!  We've been here for 5 days now and we are all REALLY enjoying Sydney!  It is an easy city to explore using the local transit system which includes rail, bus and ferry services for which we have a 7 day all inclusive pass.  We have been to Bondi beach where there is currently a sculpture display along the sea walk, Taronga Zoo, Manly Beach, the Rocks and Circular Quay, Sydney Opera House, the Domain, the Royal Botanical Garden and the Blue Mountains.  We spent a day with the Wallers who are here on a teaching exchange. It was fun going to Jackson and Scott's school, see an assembly and meet their teachers.

  1. The beach looks beautiful! It's starting to get cold and the mountains have a dusting of snow. Katie is really feeling the dry cold in Kelowna but having a great time.

  2. The beaches are beautiful! Spent part of the day at Bondi yesterday and had great fun playing in the waves. Chloe found the rip quite strong and Paul had to hold on tightly to keep her beside him.
